This Holiday Season was great!!!

There were many winners this Holiday! Of the families that celebrated, many decorated their homes with love and creativity. Even the losers were winners as their neighborhood was glimmering with life and excitement. The following homes won this year’s prizes:

Winner Unit Prize
1st Place 8524 $ 25
2nd Place 8126 $ 15
3rd Place 8102 $ 10
4th Place 8246 Honorable Mention
5th Place (tie) 8312 & 10241 (80th Street) Mention

This Year’s Garage/Yard Sale was the best!!!

Despite the police effort to shut down the sale, this season’s sale was the biggest. Many people walked away with lots of money or superb buys. Can’t wait till next year!

December 16th and all is not so well…

Did you see or hear the ruckus? On that Monday afternoon, an armed bandit made off with a pizza delivery person’s cash. (We don’t know if he got away with the pizza.) Your local police made a presence and display by positioning patrol cars all around KendallTown and flew a helicopter in circles for a few hours.

In other news… The police have informed us that burglaries are on the rise in our little Sunset Park neighborhood. Please follow some simple rules to protect your property. Don’t leave garbage cans, mail or newspapers laying around; That’s an invitation for a breakin. Make sure your exterior lights are working and make arrangements with your friends to make your house look lived in if you go out overnight. The more burglaries we have, the greater the chance of it becoming a habit. Rats know where to find goodies, and they always return to easy pickings. Please help keep the rats out of your house and your neighborhood!

Earth Day is coming in April. This is your early warning to get those seeds planted and those gardens cultivated. Who will be this years Earth Day winner? (Did you notice the many new baby trees in Sunset Park?)

A great big thanks goes to Chuck Choba, and José Castelló, for their contributions to this months Village News and Sunset Park’s very own internet Web Site.
